Burnt
February 13, 2009
Over the weekend, Australia experienced its worst natural disaster in history! There were many sweltering hot days during the week, however on Saturday the temperature reached 119 degrees fahrenheit (48 celsius). That’s when most of the fires started, it was not just one fire, many small fires grew bigger, and bigger.
Firefighters flew to Victoria from all around Australia. Tragically, 181 people have died, and there are still some fires out of control. On the TV, radio and newspapers we are hearing interviews about people who lost their homes, neighbours and friends. Many people have been donating money to those who lost their family and homes. Our school is having a dress up day and people will bring $2 or more to donate to the bushfire victims.
This is a satellite image of the state as the bush fires swept over it on the weekend. You can see little red patches, they are the fires.

Hello,
These fires are just horrible. Were I am there aren’t forest fires. But were my dad sometimes travels there are and I get worried. It’s so sad how much damage these fires can do. I hope that everything will get restored.

I can’t believe it. That is so terrible. I feel very bad for all who died that day, and i think it is good you did a fundraiser for it.
Great blog!
